| Tour your house

and dentists for recommendation on new doctors near your new home. |
Arrange
transfer of school records |
Check
homeowners insurance policies to see if moving is covered. Transfer fire, theft and other
insurance. |

personal insurance records |
Start preparing
your house plants for the move to your new location. |

Weeks Before Moving |
| Plan to use up
most food items before the move. |
Check and clear
tax assessments. |
Use up or give
away aerosol, flammables or ammunition. Movers will not take them. |
Start preparing
your pets for the move to your new location. |
| Notify the Post
Office and get change-of-address forms. Notify magazines about your new address. |

| Two Weeks
Before Moving |
| Make your
travel reservations for the trip. |
Decide which
items you'll pack, and which you want the movers to pack. |
Call or
transfer all charge accounts. Return library books and other things you may have
borrowed. |
Arrange to
discontinue utilities and delivery services. |
| Protect your
shipment by disposing of flammables such as gasoline, fireworks, matches and aerosol
containers. |
Arrange
connection of utilities at your new location Draw up a floor plan of you new home and
indicate places of furnishing. |
Arrange for
cable and TV antenna disconnection. Atlas does not take antennas down but can have it
arranged. |

| One Week
Before Moving |
| Transfer bank
accounts and ask local credit bureaus to transfer your records to your new city. |
Arrange to have
cash, certified check or money order ready to pay the driver before goods are unloaded. |
Set aside maps,
games, snacks and other items you'll take in your car. Gather medicines and
important papers. |
Contact the
phone company and arrange to disconnect current service. Ask to connect service at your
new location. |
| Drain water
from all garden hoses. Start packing suitcases. |
Get the name,
address and phone number of your Atlas destination agent. Drain gasoline from lawn mowers. |
Anything Atlas
is packing should be left in place. |

| One Day Before Moving |

| Put cleaning
supplies, toiletries and coffee pot in special box to be loaded last, unloaded first. |
Be on hand all
day to answer questions, accompany driver during inventory, sign bill, confirm your new
address and delivery date. Be sure to advise the driver of your enroute
accommodations.
Make a final check of every room and storage area. Make sure windows and
doors are locked and keys are transferred. Turn all lights off.

It's a good
idea to be at your new home a day ahead of the van so you can make sure utilities are
connected and plan placement of major items in your home. |
